MATERIALS REQUIRED: USB THUMB DRIVE, USB KEYBOARD, SAMSTICK CONNECTED TO TV


Preparing the USB boot drive


A USB storage drive must be prepared according to the instructions below. A level of comfort with technical procedures is required.  


Summary: you will be copying files to a USB thumb drive


  1. Obtain a USB thumb drive
  2. Ensure it has been formatted to FAT32, not NTFS, or any other file system. If you do not know how to do this, please stop here and contact support for an RMA, if required
  3. Download the flashing package here
  4. Open the downloaded .zip file and extract all the contents to the root of your USB drive


Verifying your SAMStick compatibility


You must ensure that the SAMStick you are about to flash is compatible with the BIOS upgrade


Summary: you will be checking and comparing some important pieces of information


  1. On the device itself, the label should include SKU: A-1166
  2. Power-cycle the device if it is currently powered on, or power it on
  3. On the monitor/TV, when the Azulle splash screen appears, ensure that 2.8.0 is clearly visible in the lower right hand of the screen.
  4. If both 1 and 3 are confirmed, power off the device, and proceed to the next section. If either one cannot be confirmed, contact ENS Support


Performing the flash


Summary: you will plug in the USB drive and USB keyboard into the SAMStick and force a boot from the USB drive, beginning the flashing process automatically


  1. Obtain a USB keyboard and plug it into the SAMStick, with the SAMStick powered off
  2. Plug the prepared USB thumb drive into the SAMStick
  3. Power on the device
  4. When the Azulle splash screen appears, begin pressing F7 on the keyboard, about once per second until the Boot Menu appears
  5. Select the USB thumb drive from the boot options list. It will usually display as UEFI:<drive manufacterer>, such as UEFI: Sandisk, or UEFI: Kingston 
  6. Click Enter to boot begin booting from the drive
  7. The process should begin and complete automatically. 
  8. You may see a warning: "Not all of the file data will be written to flash because the file is longer than the flash area to be written to!". You may ignore this message.
  9. When you see "FPT Operation Successful", power off the device
  10. Unplug the USB drive, and the USB keyboard, and power on
  11. The unit may take longer to respond than usual, however, if you do not see any activity within 3 minutes, unplug the power, wait one minute and try again. Repeat up to 5-6 times before contacting Support
